Recovering is better than the alternative

Well, after spending Christmas eve in the hospital, we are thankful that Felicia's surgery went well, and she has been recovering well at home.  Some days she is raring to go, others, she is beat.  The doctor was happy with the results and we have been seeing improvements on a daily basis.  Here is to wishing a happy and healthy new year to everyone!

A Rainy Day in Idaho

Just another rainy day in the Pacific Northwest... Yes, Idaho is still part of the Pacific Northwest ;-)
It looks like we finally finished our Christmas shopping and now the task of wrapping.  We look forward to seeing my daughter and the grand daughters tomorrow for our Christmas together.  Hope everyone is safe and warm.  Looking forward to getting the 5er out on the road again.  Drop us a line if you are in the area.

Just Checking In

Hi all!  Sometimes life gets in the way of life.  We really are looking forward to the day that we can go full time and travel with the sun.  It has been in the high 30's at night and in the 50's during the day.  That is much to cold for my tastes.  Felicia is right there with me when it comes to the cold.  We tucked the 5er in to bed for the winter.  Blew out all the water lines and added the antifreeze.  turned the batteries off, etc.  Our good friends Steve and Soni had a great surprise for us.  I stopped into to see them as they were working in the yard and they said another friend had given them a solar panel, but they didn't have any use for it, so they wanted to give it to Felicia and I for our 5er.  We gladly accepted!  They are the best!!  I will hold off on mounting it until we get a few more, then mount them all at once.  Until then, we will just set them out on the ground when we are traveling.  I will try to post more often... sorry about that.  The picture below is a tribute to all of our veterans and those still serving.  THANK YOU!

Finally found my password to log on!!

Don't you just love it when you are going through your papers and you finally are able to find the password to your blog...   Sorry for the long time between posts!  So much has been happening.  Rob finished his tour of duty and is officially out of the Army.  He is very excited to get to college and start the next chapter in his life.  Brittany is going to have surgery in October and we are praying for a speedy recovery.  We haven't been able to take the 5er out as often as we would like, but we will soon.  We are still working, and getting our bills caught up so when we do go full time, we won't have to worry about debt.  We are really loving the RVillage.com site.  It is wonderful to have such a great resource.  We will try to keep up on the blog and hope to visit with fellow RVers.  If you are in the Boise area, please message us on RVillage at Caravaning USA with Jon & Felicia.

Memorial Day In Marcola

We just got home from a wonderful time visiting Felicia's mom and dad near Marcola, Oregon.  We really enjoy getting out in the sun by the pool and visiting with all of the great people.  Can't wait to go back in August for more.  We are both a bit tired, so bed time is near.  We will post some more in the next day or two.

Out and about in our 5er

We are out and about in our new to us 5th wheel.  We are enjoying getting to know the ins and outs of the rig.  We are also realizing what we forgot at home, what we forgot in the old rig when we traded it in, and what we need for this rig that we didn't need for the other.  This is all what makes RVing fun!  We are staying in a wonderful park located in Caldwell, Idaho.  It is the Ambassador RV Resort.  This is a first class park with all the usual amenities, with the nicest people!  The park is very clean, well run, with a staff that bends over backwards to make sure everything is just right.  Even though it is close to home, we will be coming back to enjoy the people.  Tonight the park has a "jam session" scheduled.  Can't wait to join in.

We finally got our 5th wheel!!

We just signed on our 5th wheel.  Its a 2010 Heartland Bighorn 3670RL.  We are so excited.  One more step closer to going full time.  We purchased from Bretz RV in Boise, Idaho.  They made the whole process very stress free and without the typical drama found at a lot of dealers.  We were kinda sad as we drove away from our Class C... sitting in their parking lot all alone... but we got over it fast.  Can't wait to get it out on the road and try it out.  Kat and Reggie are going to have all the new smells and places to check out.  I think they will like it much more than the Class C.  Please feel free to comment and let us know about your adventures.

It's a Monday...

So, I was in the office this morning and someone said "hey, what is hanging down under your new pickup..."  I went out and looked, and lo and behold, one of the inspection plates and a small cross member under the fuel tank where barely being held on by a few threads on the bolts and several of the bolts missing all together.  I took it directly to the dealer that worked on it a few weeks ago.  It was having issues with the diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) injection pump.  It took them a week in the shop, but they got that fixed.  Apparently they were in a hurry to get it out of the shop and just "forgot" to finish putting it back together.  To the dealerships credit, they did apologize, got it right in and the service manager gave me a free oil change (as many know, for a diesel this is about 100.00 dollars).  I was a bit upset earlier in the day, but have since been able to come down a bit.  I couldn't imagine what could have happened if the cross member had come off while we were going down the interstate and hit someone behind us... scary!  Felicia's back is feeling better today after going to the doctor.  Flexoral is a wonderful thing... That all for today.

So, I lost my previous blog log in info, so I had to start a new one.  So... here we go again.

We are in the market for a fifth wheel and have been looking at Keystone Montana, Grand Design Solitude and the Heartland Landmark.  If anyone has any feedback on those, we would love to hear from you.

As soon as our Class C sells, we will be ready to run right out and get it.
